Engaged Teaching and Learning: Lessons from 25 Years of 1:1 Educational Technology Research

At a time when many policymakers are questioning the role and efficacy of technology in classrooms, what does Maine’s pioneering experience with 1:1 computing and 25 years of subsequent research tell us about technology in school? This keynote aims to facilitate a deeper understanding of the evolution of teaching and learning practices in Maine and around the globe through an examination of the opportunities and challenges facing teachers and leadership with educational technology today. As we consider this history and our larger educational mission, the keynote will provide a dynamic summary of research studies from Maine and around the world to facilitate deep thinking about how, when, where, and why teachers and students leverage educational technology today and what practices yield impacts.
